Nearly 150 years ago on November 19, 1863 President Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address on the site of the battle of the same name. It was one that changed to course of the American Civil War and an address changed the United States of America as it transformed the war from one for Union to a one for freedom.
That is why our musical Gettysburg – Brothers at War finishes with the Gettysburg Address as the opening words to the final song “Freedom”.
Gettysburg – Brothers at War is a story of two brothers who split their family to fight on different sides and met up at Gettysburg.
What I find most fascinating about this battle is that only one citizen of Gettysburg was killed, Jennie Wade. She was famous, not just because she was the only citizen of the town to be killed in the battle, but as the lady who had spent the first two days of the battle baking bread for the Unionist soldiers.
This powerful show will give you a powerful and enjoyable show for you children to remember and for your parents to enjoy watching.
